MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL POISED TO TAKE OVER FOR KATIE HOLMES

Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal is in final talks to take over the role of “Rachel Dawes” for departed Katie Holmes in the upcoming Batman: The Dark Knight.  Holmes dropped out of the part shortly after marrying Tom Cruise.  Of the addition of Gyllenhaal, director Christopher Nolan said, “I’m extremely excited to work with an actress of Maggie’s caliber, and she’s a great addition to the cast.”

Filming is expected to begin next month for a July 2008 release.

Plot: With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good.
